Message And Error Boxes

The Truckers Helper program provides a variety of message and error dialog boxes to help you avoid input errors. Do not confuse Audit Errors, and Input Errors with program errors.

Audit Errors:

An Audit Error occurs when you fail to provide data The Truckers Helper program requires, or you enter data the program may think is incorrect. These messages are designed to tell you what you need to do to complete the record you are trying to input.

This Audit Error message dialog box indicates it found a possible problem and asks what action you want to take.

Be sure to read these error message dialog boxes when they pop-up. The Truckers Helper receives numerous calls from users who tell us The Truckers Helper program will not let them add a record because the date is earlier than the last load. This is not what the error message dialog box indicates. The error message dialog box is actually informing you that you may have a problem and to verify the date. Click Cancel if you want to enter the load anyway.

Input Errors:

An Input Error is caused by not entering data required by The Truckers Helper program, or by entering the wrong type of data. For example, The Truckers Helper asks for a number and you enter text, or you left the number field blank.

In this example The Truckers Helper indicates you cannot continue with the current process because you have not provided data it needs to continue. If you want to continue, click Yes. Click No to exit the process.

Decision  Dialog Box:

Decision dialog boxes ask a question and performs an operation based on your response.

In this example, if you click Yes The Truckers Helper program performs a backup. If you click No the program will not perform the back up. If you click Cancel the program ends the backup operation and returns to where you were previously working.

Reminder Box:

If you turned on The Truckers Helper reminder in Program Options, a message dialog box pops-up indicating the reminder and how to turn this reminder off.

Program Errors:

Unexpected Errors are not anticipated errors. If you get this type of error it is probably not a problem. PCs in general often lose track of where they were or what they were doing. If the error occurs repeatedly, it is a problem and you need to notify The Truckers Helper of the problem. Please write down the Error Number and Error Description. The Truckers Helper MUST have the description to be able to track what is causing the problem.

When you get a run time error it will generally shut down your program. If you get this error occasionally it is probably not a problem, if you get this error repeatedly you need to report it to The Truckers Helper. Please let us know what steps you take to create the error. The Truckers Helper will attempt to fix the problem so you cannot get this error again. The Truckers Helper will make available an online update.

Dazzling, Baffling, and Strange Behavior:

Occasionally, The Truckers Helper program may begin to act in an odd manner. That is, a function key may fail to operate when it was working just a minute ago, or some other strange aberration may occur. These events usually happen because something goes wrong in your operating system and it loses track of where it was or what it was doing. Should this occur shut down The Truckers Helper program and then reopen it. This usually corrects the problem.

This Program Has Performed An Illegal Operation And Will Be Shut Down:

What this really means is that your PC is lost and doesn't know what it is supposed to do. So, to resolve it's inner conflict it declares that the program has done something wrong and shuts down. Once you receive this message you MUST restart your computer to reset your operating system and correct the source of the problem.

It Was Working Fine Yesterday:

When the program suddenly stops working it is usually because something on your computer has changed. This is caused by installing or un-installing other programs. To correct this type of problem reinstall The Truckers Helper program from your CD. This may replace the damaged or overwritten system file with a good version. If this does not work, you may need to reinstall your Operating System, and then reinstall The Truckers Helper program. Be sure you have a backup before you reinstall your Operating System.

Note: If you do not have Priority Service and have received online updates that have changed your version, many features may not work correctly until you do the online updates again. Changes in the updates may cause errors in the program if you install an older version over a newer one.
