Due to the nature of the rules when you end the day without a 10 hour break, or a qualified 10 hour split break, the status box will report that you are out of hours

this is not an error this is correct. At that point in time you have exceeded your 14 hours. As soon as you finish entering the rest of the Off-Duty or Sleeper time in the next day the Status box will clear and show you with 0 On-Duty and 14 Remaining. This does not create an error in the program and does not report an error in your Violation Browser. It simply turns the status box red to let you know that you need to complete a qualified break before you will have hours available again.
This also affects your hours available to drive, and the top status box will show that you need a 10 hour break. This means that you need to complete whatever break you started in the current day (not that you need an additional 10 hours).
